About Us

The Joseph Riley Armstead III, '13 Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established for over $25,000. The first award was made in the fall of 2018 to a full-time student who meets the scholarship criteria as set forth in the agreement established by the family and friends of Joseph Riley Armstead III and Neumann University. 

 

Additionally, the Foundation will assist with creating and funding classrooms that establish designated reading rooms and home libraries for Baltimore City for Pre K and Kindergarten students. His life was a massive part of our lives and his memory continues to live on thru his “Chase The Cool” music. The Foundation will exist to promote, cultivate and inspire all to imitate the special and unique qualities of an exceptional young man named Joseph Riley Armstead, III who left us way too soon but left us with a clear and purposeful vision.

Because of Joey's philosophy and passion regarding literacy and the impact of literacy on narrowing the achievement gap, we are honored to announce the dedication of Y Head Start Lending Libraries in the memory of Mr. Joseph Armstead. The official name of the Lending Library will be “Chase A Book! Reading Is Cool! – The Joseph Armstead Lending Library.

 

“Chase A Book! Reading Is Cool” Lending Libraries, in all 40 Y Head Start classrooms, will receive a new theme design and packaging. The philosophy and passion of Joseph Armstead will continue to thrive.
